Colors are all around us! And for teaching basic recognition, matching, sorting and other skills to toddlers they’re a perfect place to start.
We’ve gathered some great color activity ideas from other bloggers to bring you a weekly plan to include in your Tot School journey. If you’re new to Tot School be sure to check out how to get started!
As always with little ones, play and learning go hand in hand. But the activities have been separated into the play group which requires little direction and could be better for younger toddlers and the learning group which requires a little more adult interaction and could be better for the preschool age.

Amy is a former teacher turned stay-at-home mom and writer. She loves sharing what she knows about family, play and early learning. When she’s not at her computer you can find her spending family time, organizing or decorating her home, reading a good self-help book or pretending she knows how to cook but she usually leaves that to her awesome husband!
