For today’s junk play prompt – turning promotional magnets into play, we decided to go with simple activity with washi tape. Mostly because washi tape is something even little hands can easily tear.
Have you already joined our 60 Days Junk Play Challenge? If you’re new around here, check for details here and join us! It will be 2 months full of fun ways to repurpose 60 different items you would normally trash or recycle and turn them into something fun for kids to play with!

I have simply placed on a tray several promotional magnets we already had at home and few rolls of washi tape. Then I left it on a table for kids to spot it. Love to throw them surprise invitations to play! Such a fun to watch their faces turn into giant question marks!
I left them to play with washi tape, tear it and glue over magnets. This is awesome for strengthening little hands as they try to tear washi tape, and for developing fine motor skills as they try to tape it over magnets. When they were done, we had to place our “new” magnets on a fridge to show off!
