Speding time inside four walls of your home can make it much harder for you to stay in shape and exercise, but it doesn’t have to be that way! If you invest a little thought and get a little creative, you can come up with a lot of physical activities that will help you stay fit and have a lot of fun with your kids at home. Here are some great examples of easy family fitness activities to do with your kids in your home.

1. Exercising Can Be Fun!
When you mention exercising to your family, you will usually be met with bored glares and rolling eyes. This is why you need to show them that it can be a fun family activity. Do some interesting exercises with them, like wheelbarrows. It is important that they feel the exercise is also a game. After a while, they will start doing it on their own. You can also include them in your regular workout routines. Run on the treadclimber together or instead of using weights, lift them around. If you are doing pushups, one of the kids can lie on your back. It will make them very happy to be a part of your workouts.
2. Dance, Dance, Dance!
Dancing is one of the best physical activities. Just turn some music on and start moving around. Your kids will see you having fun and join you pretty soon. Make it a party and organize a dancing tournament. You can even offer some rewards to the “best” dancer like a chocolate bar or some pancakes. If you make it fun for your family, you will have no trouble hosting regular dance-offs.

3. Have Fun With a Ball
Grab a ball and play a little game of soccer. If you have a straight hallway with two doorways, designate each one to be a goal. Your kids will love running around, trying to get past you to score a point. Make sure that it is a light ball or that you have no valuable items in the hallway. Our kids love our hover soccer ball and play it often inside! You don’t want to make a mess of things. If you have a smaller ball, you can also play some catch. This is a great physical activity, just make sure to tell your kids to throw the ball gently while inside the house.
4. Family Wrestling
If you see that your kids are bored, grab some pillows or a mattress and place them on the floor. Dare your kids to wrestle you to the ground. Of course, don’t make it too easy for them, it has to be an exercise and a challenge. You will soon discover that they will quite happily accept your challenge and that they will be full of interesting ways to drop you to the ground. Exercise caution when wrestling, make regular pauses and don’t do it near anything valuable.

5. Baloon Badmingthon
Grab a couple of paper plates and glue them to wooden sticks. These are your homemade badminton rackets. Blow up a balloon and you have a great ball that can’t damage anything in your home. The point of the game is to hit the ballon with your paper racket and to try to get it past your opponent. This is a fantastic activity that includes a lot of fun, laughter and moving around.

6. Rope Crawling
For this activity, you will need some thin rope. The point is to create an obstacle course that resembles those laser fields that special agents need to move through in action movies. Tie your ropes to various sturdy objects in the house and make sure that they are tight. You and your kids must move through the “laser field” without touching any of the ropes. It is a great exercise, testing your patience and coordination, and your kids will love acting out scenes from movies.
7. Obstacle Course
Make an obstacle course in your home using chairs, pillows, mattresses and even tables. Make it an interesting course, full of jumping, crawling and crouching. Set some rules and hold a tournament. The fastest finish time doesn’t need to tidy up their room for a week. This friendly competition will make it a great and memorable experience for the whole family.
8. Indoor Scavenger Hunt

Get all family members to participate in an indoor scavenger hunt! We have 11 different themes to choose from – it’s as easy as downloading file and printing it out. Even the youngerst can participate since these scavenger hunts are wordless and they will need to find the items based on photo clues. To make it more fun and exciting, limit the time.
