This week in Tot school we are working on letter G activities and we picked G is for Giraffe. We’ve included activities for art, sensory, language and cognitive skills. Some are specifically giraffe, some jungle or habitat and a few letter G learning ideas to provide some variety.
We’ve prepared a week of play and learning for you. The play activities need a little less set-up and the learning activities are more skill based and take a little more direction.
Letter G – Play Activities with Giraffes
Giraffe themed play activities include a variety of activities, from sensory play to imaginative play, storytelling, art and craft activities. Providing such a variety of activities helps toddlers to work on different skills in fun and engaging ways.
DAY 1 – Animal Washing Sensory Play| Where Imagination Grows
Very simple to set up sensory activity for toddlers, provides practical skills needed later on. To comply with our letter G work, we added a giraffe inside but you can very well use this same activity with any other letter as long as you provide toys to match the targeted letter.
DAY 2 – Toilet Paper Roll Giraffe Marionette| Red Ted Art

For this activity, you will need paper rolls so make sure to always have some saved in your recycle bin! This craft is perfect to make as later on, finished giraffe marionette can be used for retelling stories and imaginative play.
DAY 3 – Safari Small World Play| Little Worlds
Small world play has the power to capture kids for hours. From setting up a small worl play area to imaginative time, it’s sure to keep kids busy for long time. Prepare a variety of safari animals and few fun facts to share with toddlers about their little animal friends.
DAY 4 – Crazy Clay Giraffe| Play and Learn Everyday
Modelling provides a great opportunity for working on fine motor skills and this clay giraffe is perfect for practice. You can always use playdough instead of clay.
DAY 5 – Bubble Wrap Giraffe Painting| Crafty Kids at Home
Bubble wrap crafts are super simple and resemble stamping techique which makes them perfect for toddlers to make.
DAY 6 – Dear Zoo Storytelling Basket| The Imagination Tree
Have your read Dear Zoo book to your toddlers? It’s one of our favorites! Toddlers adore these little flip books. Providing a storytelling basket along with a book with encourage kids to prolong their play time.
DAY 7 – Giraffe Finger Puppet| I Heart Crafty Things
Finger puppets can be used for storytelling and imaginative play. We love how this giraffe finger puppet is simple and easy to make!
Learning Activities with Letter G and Giraffes
DAY 1 – Giraffe Spots Number Game| Toddler Approved
Simple math activity using dice help toddlers with with number recognition and counting. Cover the number on the giraffe after rolling the dice.
DAY 2 – Preschool Alphabet Book: Uppercase G| From ABC’s to ACT’s
Letter crafts are fun and this letter G for giraffe is no exception. When learning in this way, kids are sure to remember the shape and recognize letter G without any problems.
DAY 3 – Giraffe Measuring Activity – The Pinay Homeschooler
Another math activity with giraffes, this time we get to measure how tall is each giraffe. This activity combines math with fine motor skills.
DAY 4 – Letter G: Giraffe, Grapes and Gummy Bear Activities| The Magnolia Barn
The whole shelf dedicated to letter G activities! Love this idea. It includes other words starting with G like grapes and gummy bears.
DAY 5 – Letter G Activities for Tot School| Growing Hands On Kids
Adding a writing tray to alphabet activities is always a good idea. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, you need brushes, tray, sand or salt, and a set of alphabet cards.
DAY 6 – Letter G Magazine Hunt | This Reading Mama
When you engage kids in this activity they will work on their letter recognition as well as on their cutting and pasting skills.
DAY 7 – Giraffe Size Sorting | Mudpies $ Make Up
Super simple sorting activity introduce kids to beginner math concepts. Print the sheet, let kids cut out the giraffes and work on sorting from largest to smallest and backwards.
