Recycled Stick Puppets

It’s awesome that you can make stick puppets almost from everything! For today’s #junkplay activity, we recycled some of the greeting and birthday cards we had received previous years.

This “light” activity for kids is instantly gratifying – they get to play with something they make in only couple minutes and without any money spent on brand new toys!

What you need to make your own stick puppets: greeting / birthday / Christmas cards or any other you received over the years that has a nice graphic on front side, couple of popsicle stick, some googly eyes (optional), scissors and glue.

If you have a toddler whose scissors skills are not fully developed, you might want to cut the characters from cards and then let them glue it on a popsicle stick and decorate with googly eyes if they wish. Like my toddler did with eggs I have cut for her from Easter card.

If you have an older kid, let them do it all by themselves. Simply put everything on a tray and invite them to make stick puppets! They will love it!

And once they are done with cutting and gluing, they have a brand new set of stick puppets for imaginative play! Challenge them to come up with unique scenarios and to put up a little puppet show for you or for their friends!
