One of the easiest ways to get toddlers to recognize letters and learn an alphabet is to engage them in learning their own name. For today’s learning activity, we have put together simple name recognition activity for our toddler using alphabet foam stickers. We used it as a busy bag, but it can as easily be used as a tot tray activity.
Only several things are needed for this name recognition activity:
- a piece of paper with child’s name (like shown on the picture)
- foam letters or alphabet stickers
- protective sheet for document (optional, we used it because in this way she can stick and peel and stick letters more than once)
- plastic container for stickers.

Of course, be prepared that stickers will not remain inside the container for a long time, they will soon be all over the table (often under the table as well). However, playing with stickers is an amazing way to practice fine motor skills with toddlers and we love to use them both when learning and playing!
