Here we share a list of our top 10 Christmas stocking stuffers for toddlers, all the toys from this list have been tried, loved and played with by my kids age 2 and 6. Although, you can use this list for preschoolers too!
Are you looking forward to a Christmas season? I know my daughters are counting days already! Either you’re doing an advent calendar countdown with your kids or have some other fun Christmas family tradition, there is always an issue which toy to buy and not go broke by the time Christmas day arrives!
We used several criteria to pick these stocking stuffers:
- Toys should actually fit inside the stocking! (I see so many stocking stuffer recommendations online with toys you simply can’t force into a stocking!)
- Purchase big packs of toys to divide between your kids! (It will be more like a shared toy they can both play with together! Less fighting and yelling!)
- Toys shouldn’t be over $5 per piece.
- And we try to keep total cost of stocking fillers to under $10! (Less is more in so many areas of life and this is no different. We raise kids to find joy in things we do together as family over Christmas more than receiving gifts.)
- Add some candy! My girls adore chocolate coins! And they get it only in Christmas stockings so it’s something special for them! Find a special candy to add to your toddler’s stocking!
- Finger puppets!
Pick finger puppet set with animals or with people and add few to each of your child’s stocking! These are well loved by my kids for years now! (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Shaped crayons!
Most kids love to draw and it’s even more fun with these star shaped crayons little hands can easily grip! This is another toy where you can break the package and divide between kids! (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Card games.
We have 2 daughters with 3 years in between so we try our best to pick toys that could be interesting both for 2 year old and 5 year old. This card pack comes with 4 classic card games so it can be used as a stocking stuffer or a little prize for job well done for any day. Add one to the stocking and save others for another child or next Christmas! (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Stamps!
Have to say that both my girls love and use almost daily this set of self inking stamps! They use it to make scrabbles, for making greeting cards, little notes for their friends and mommy. Even my hubby uses some of these with his kids in the 1st grade for job well done! Set we purchased holds 50 self-inking stamps in variety of themes. (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Play-Doh.
Another one of toys / art supplies we usually add to Christmas stockings because, well, we should buy them just the same! So, we pick this party set of 15 little containers with different colors and add couple to each child’s Christmas stocking and save the rest for another time. (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Bath toys!
Our kids love these bath time foam animals (come two of each so we splitted them between girls) but you can find a variety of cheap bathtime toys to add to Christmas stocking. (UK readers can find this set HERE) - Shape sponges
These are great for a variety of art projects for little hands plus, as so many others on our list of favorite stocking stuffers for toddlers, you can break the package and add one or few to each Christmas stocking. (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Christmas ducks!
Ok, go smart with this one and DON’T give your child a full set at once! You can spare lots of money if you add one of these to the Christmas stocking and keep another one for next year! Let’s face it, most kids don’t outgrow playing with rubber ducks until they are well into school years! (UK readers can find this set HERE)
- Finger puppet books
These little books are the only exception when it comes to $5 limit per toy. We love these and mom always has one or two of these books where ever we go. My toddler loves when each story is read several times in a row so it keeps her occupied for quiet some time. (UK readers can find them HERE)
- Stickers
There are so many things that can be done with stickers plus toddlers love them! If you need an inspiration, you can check 9 Amazingly Easy Ways to Use Stickers for Learning! (UK readers can find variety HERE)
