Gross motor skills are important for every day tasks such as walking, running, playing, and more. When kids get older gross motor skills are what will help them play sports, do chores, and even just move around. Building and strengthening gross motor skills does not have to be work, though. Especially with these Top 10 Toys That Promote Gross Motor Skills For 1 Year Olds, kids will think they are simply playing. These are my favorite toys for encouraging muscle strengthening, core building and of course having fun.
Inflatable Bouncing Horse
How much fun will your little one have bouncing around on this Inflatable Bouncing Horse? The bouncing motion helps strengthen their leg, stomach and even arm muscles.
Play Wall Climb and Slide
The Play Wall Climb and Slide is perfect for indoor or out. Kids can climb, slide, jump and even fall without getting hurt. They will think they’re just having fun when in reality they are strengthening muscles in their whole body.
Shape Sorter Wooden Round Cage
This shape sorter is sturdy and classically colorful. It can be rolled around like a wheel, but stops just in time to allow kids to have fun putting the shapes in. This is excellent for little ones who are strengthening core to help them learn to walk.
Indoor and Outdoor Child Tunnel Toy
This was one of my favorites as a child, or at least something similar. Kids can crawl and roll through the 4 Way Tunnel, which provides important muscle strengthening for the entire body.
Ride On Baby Walker
This is fun for little ones because it’s a walk or a ride toy. They can move faster than with straight crawling, but it is providing essential muscle training for when they start walking. Plus look at the buttons they can push!
4 Piece Baby Band
This might make some noise, but your child will love making music and jamming with these Band Instruments which are perfect for little ones. They can be shaken, beat against the floor, and more. Kids will think its fun, which it is, but they are building solid hand gripping strength and arm muscles.
Wooden Toddler Push Along Duck and Bird
If your little one can walk, this is a fun Duck and Bird toy they can drag behind them. Even if you are still in the crawling stage, children can learn multi tasking skills while maneuvering around and pulling something adorable behind them.
Rain sticks are highly therapeutic for many people, the same can be for little ones. This rainbow rain stick is large enough that it can grow with the child, but is also fantastic for 1 year olds. Little ones can push it along the floor in front of them, pull it up and shake it and more.
Wooden Shape Sorter
With multiple sides to this big shape sorter, kids will be encouraged to maneuver around the square. This will encourage little ones to play and learn shapes and colors. This unit can even be useful for helping a child pull themselves up and sturdy themselves to take steps.
Shape Stacker In Rainbow Colors
Shapes, colors and numbers can be learned with this wonderful stacker. This can be used for young children, to learn size and order, but it is also helpful through years to come for other items. One year olds can stack and unstack these wooden blocks, which is excellent for strengthening hand and arm muscles.
