Ever since my older daughter saw Orbeez Swirl’n Whirl toy on an advertisement, she was all over me to buy it to her. Well, not possible right now! We have an agreement to purchase new toys only for birthdays and major holidays because, frankly, you can’t have space in an apartment to place as many toys as kids would want to have!
So, instead of purchasing her this toy, I bought a small package of water beds! Much cheaper but still hours of fun! We learned some things while playing with water beads but more about it later on. Now onto this awesome sensory play idea for a bathtub!

Sometimes simple things are the best! So, we filled a bath with water and added our water beads inside. Added few plastic tools for girls to play with and, ta da, off to play!
It was fun for older one to try to catch water beads with her hands while toddler tried to catch them with a shovel. Not much use! They kept escaping her! Nevertheless, it was awesome fun. They were both fascinated how water beads are transparent and you can “look through” them.
However, since water in a bathtub was hot, soon enough girls noticed that water beads are starting to decompose! It was a rush to “salvage” as many water beads as they could before they all fall apart! Lesson learned for another time: Don’t place water beads in hot water! So we learned something new today!
You can purchase your own water beads on Amazon.com if you’re in US or onAmazon.co.uk
